Newfound Communications, Inc. -- Board of Directors
Jan Loeber -- Mr. Loeber is currently
Chairman of the Board of Newfound Communications Inc., a member of
the Board of Directors of Tele2
in Sweden, WJ Communications, Inc.
in San Jose, CA, and Option,
N.V in Leuven, Belgium. He is also an advisor to the
Supervisory Board of Interxion,
BV in the Netherlands and an advisory board member of APAX, a U.K. based venture capital and portfolio management company. Mr. Loeber previously held leadership positions at a number of companies such as the founding Managing Director of GTS Carrier Services in Brussels, Managing Director of Bankers Trust's Global Telecom Merchant Banking Group, founding Managing Director of Unitel (acquired by T-Mobile) in London and Group President of Nokia Americas. He has also held other senior management positions at ITT Europe in Brussels and at AT&T (Bell Laboratories) in New Jersey. Mr. Loeber received his B.S. from Michigan Technological University and his M.S. in Business Administration from George Washington University.
Michael Farese --
Michael Farese is currently Senior Vice President of Engineering at
Palm, Inc.; Mr. Farese has management responsibility for all
engineering programs associated with new product development and
product sustaining engineering. Mr. Farese has been involved in the
development of wireless telecommunication products for the past 20
years at leading companies such as Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, and WJ
Communications. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Farese was
president and chief executive officer of WJ Communications and
helped to build WJ into leading provider of semiconductors for the
wireless industry. Prior to joining WJ Communications, he served as
president and chief executive officer for Tropian, a provider of
cellular ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits) for
second-generation GSM cellular networks and third-generation
UMTS/W-CDMA cellular networks. Mr. Farese's other positions have
included vice president and general manager at leading companies
such as Motorola, Ericsson, and Nokia Mobile Phones. Mr. Farese's
activity at these companies included the introduction of some of the
first GSM and TDMA digital smartphones in the industry. Mr. Farese
also held management positions at ITT, AT&T, and Bell
Laboratories. Michael Farese received a Bachelor of Science degree
in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a
master's degree in electrical engineering from Princeton University
and a doctorate in electrical engineering from Rensselaer
Polytechnic. Mr. Farese is also a member of the board of directors
of Communications Intelligence
Corp
.
Brian Allain -- Brian Allain is Vice
President & General Manager of the Data Business Unit at 3Com.
In this role he is responsible for the Profit and Loss, Product and
Program Management, Engineering, and Quality Assurance for 3Com's
Switches, Routers, and Wireless products. Before joining 3Com, Mr.
Allain was the President of Ranch Networks, the Chief Operating
Officer of GeoVideo Networks (acquired by WireOne Technologies) and
the VP of Marketing at dynamicsoft (acquired by Cisco). Previous to
those positions he served as Vice President and General Manager at
Avaya, leading the launch of their first IP PBX product line, and
earlier led the introduction of the first Voice-over-IP products for
service providers at Lucent. Mr. Allain began his career at Bell
Labs where he and his teams were responsible for firmware
development and systems engineering for embedded communications
products. Mr. Allain is also a member of the board of directors of
TechFoundation in Cambridge, MA .
Mr.
Allain was recently honored as a "VON
Pioneer" for VON Magazine one of the prominent VoIP Trade Magazines
in May of 2005.
Kris Hopkins, CEO & Founder -- As CEO of Newfound, Kris Hopkins is responsible for the overall vision, leadership and direction of the company. An experienced technical leader, Mr. Hopkins is the driving force behind Newfound’s technology and software architecture. Prior to co-founding Newfound, Mr. Hopkins helped lead business development at Lucent Technologies where he played a key role in new service provider initiatives and programs creating value-added services and software involving Lucent's infrastructure. Prior to his business development role at Lucent, Mr. Hopkins was a global marketing manager for Lucent's Wireless Broadband Solutions Group where he participated in defining and developing channel opportunities for Lucent’s wireless broadband products. Mr. Hopkins received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Cornell University and The Dorman Family Award for Entreprenuership and Personal Enterprise Excellence.
